José Luis had decided to join the Club de Grabado de Montevideo, drawn in by the work of Leonilda González, one of its founders. A romantic idea, born in Paris, that had found its way to the corner of Río Branco and 18 de Julio. A collective workshop where anyone could express themselves. José Luis understood it immediately: he wanted to fight for the democratization of art. A carpenter like him and his partners could be artists too. Among timber and saws there was room for creative exchange.
