Blanca left the dough rising and cleaned the counter. Then she laid back on the sofa, where the soft afternoon breeze lulled her to sleep.
She dreamed of a summer afternoon in Nuevo Berlín, on the banks of the Uruguay River. She could almost taste the fresh fish grilled in the open air.
A sharp pain in her feet brought her back to reality. It was the same pain that lingered after the long walks she used to take to the ruins of the Saladero.
